Texas Pride BBQ, Adkins, TX

Not far from where we’re living on the South Side of San Antonio is a rambling structure made up of a couple of wooden and metal buildings, some vintage memorabilia and old pick up trucks. Colored lights and neon light up the back pavilion and music can be heard off in the distance every weekend. That group of buildings make up Texas Pride Barbecue, and I’m happy that we’ve been able to eat there now twice and it only took us a year to do it. Texas Pride was also featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network.

We went first with some friends on Saturday night. We ate inside and then spent some time out in the pavilion listening to live music. They have live music on the weekends and a fish fry on Friday nights. Scott and I had baked potato stuffed with brisket and sweet tea.

We went again on a Tuesday night. The place was much quieter and less crowded than on a weekend. This time I had the sausage with two sides. Scott had the baked potato again. I found the potato a bit dry the last time. The sausage was really good. I had coleslaw and potato salad with my sausage.

This You Tube video features a bike night.

Texas Pride has a party room you can book for your event. They also cater and have takeout.
