You Tube is my New Search Engine

Everyone says to “Google” this or that when you need information. But truth be told, if I need to know how to do something specific I go to You Tube instead of Google.

The easiest way to do a search in You Tube is to go to my chrome browser and type in You Tube –> tab key. This lets me search You Tube right from the Google home page.

I’ve searched for things like:

How to make paper beads

How to remove photo backgrounds in Gimp

How to sell T-shirts on Teespring

How to replace a part on our 2006 truck

How to use styles in Open Office

How to run a Facebook ad

eBay and Amazon tutorials

Business podcasts (yes, people are putting their podcasts on You Tube)

How to create a Kindle book cover

Almost anything that can be shown on a video I’ve probably looked it up. I know that Google owns You Tube and the videos will come up in the regular search results, but it’s just easier for me to go directly to You Tube and search for what I need. I’ll usually come up with something to make it work.

I’ve also found several great tutorials posted on Vimeo, so don’t discount that video site either. You Tube is just more well known, so if there’s information out there I need, I’m more apt to go to You Tube first.

Do you search Google or You Tube first when you need information? Let me know in the comments or get in touch on Facebook or Twitter.
