Fiesta is Coming to San Antonio

I am being provided two tickets to Throwback Fiesta San Antonio on April 19, 2015 in exchange for this blog post.

Last year we arrived in San Antonio in the middle of Fiesta. We were too tired and worn out from our three day drive to take part in any of the activities last year. But part of our San Antonio Bucket List is to attend at least one Fiesta event (it’s not humanly possible to attend them all!) and if we get to see a river parade that will knock two items off the list.

Fiesta San Antonio is a ten day party that originally began in 1891 to honor the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. The entire city takes part. There will be parades, concerts, masquerade balls, and fireworks. We weren’t sure which event to attend, but when we found out about Throwback Fiesta on Sunday, April 19, it seemed a perfect fit for us – music we love, tasty food, and it’s over at 9:00 p.m.!

There will be music from the ’60s through the ’90s, performed by live tribute bands. I’m looking forward to Metal Shop, an ’80s hair band. It is a party, so there will be food, beer, games, a costume contest, a dance contest and a FREE ’80s T-shirt workshop. The tickets will benefit the San Antonio Parks Foundation and will go to provide enhancements to the city parks around San Antonio and within Bexar County.

Here are all the details for Throwback Fiesta:

Date: Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 3pm to 9pm

Location: Maverick Park on Broadway

Tickets: $12 on Eventbrite or at the door

We are looking forward to it, and I hope to see you there!

  1. I’ve never been to that event before but it sounds like fun.
