Wait Patiently For the Lord

Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.

– Psalm 27:14 NLT

I am not patient. I want everything right now. I want my camper and a full-time online business and my traveling lifestyle – right now. I want my Lipedema surgery in Germany to be done – right now. But in wanting so much and not being patient, I’m actually missing out on the joy and pleasure of today.

There’s nothing wrong with looking toward the future. The Bible says in Proverbs that if you’re going to build a tower you need to have a plan and a budget. It’s useful to know what the tower will look like. But if we’re always looking at the future and thinking  about what we don’t have right now then that’s what we’ll always be doing. We get stuck in the cycle of lack instead of plenty, of “don’t have” instead of “I have.”

I’ve been trying to be more consistent in my prayer time lately, and this is just one thing God is shining light on for me. He’s telling me to slow down and not to move so fast, just wait for Him. This is hard to to, especially when our van is leaking transmission fluid and we’re both itching to go somewhere – anywhere – away from our home and work.

We started looking for replacement vehicles on Craigslist and I felt God tell me to stop. Just stop looking for a replacement. He will take care of our transportation issues and I’m to be patient and trust.

Every day I want to look at Craigslist. We did stop at a car dealership that had a 1977 GMC Motorhome out on the lot, just to look at it. But it was already sold. Again, God is saying to be patient.

So I’m being patient. We’re saving money towards a newer vehicle, a bigger van to use as a tow vehicle and in our eBay business.  I’m not looking at Craigslist or any of the used car websites or even trying to see what’s for sale at the lots when we drive past. I’m trusting that our replacement vehicle is out there, that our camper is out there, that the money for my surgeries in Germany is out there. I can’t wait to see what God brings to us.

Why are you waiting on the Lord? What do you need from him? Let me know in the comments or get in touch on Facebook or Twitter.
