Why I Spend my Social Media Time and Energy on Facebook

This post is part of the Social Media Blog Hop, hosted by writer Ruth Snyder at ruthlsnyder.com. Please check out the rest of the blogs on the hop to learn more about social media and how bloggers and writers are using social media platforms to share their message and build their brand. The next post in the blog hop will be on March 19, 2015.

I’ve enjoyed Facebook for a long time, even before I started blogging again. I started on the platform as a way to connect with friends, family, and classmates from school. I’ve met wonderful people from all over the world who share similar interests and even afflictions. It’s a great source of support for the Lipedema networks I’m part of and we’re able to coordinate our grassroots efforts and discussion on research, treatment, conferences and in person meet ups just for fun. I’ve connected with fellow bloggers in my own city and around the state, as well as writers and fellow eBay and Amazon sellers. This wouldn’t be possible without Facebook.

I have pages for my different businesses and niche websites, and it’s easy to use the Page Manager app on my phone to handle the work for those pages. I can use the page to set up events and share information, links and helpful information. Facebook, in my opinion, is one of the easiest platforms to learn and I love that’s it’s completely free.

My page for this blog is Creative Life Enterprises.  I’m off and on my page throughout the day, sharing some pre-scheduled posts but also sharing what’s happening in real life. I share pictures of what we’re up to if we’re traveling around San Antonio or eating at a new restaurant. I also share inspirational photos, quotes and messages. I have the alerts set up on my phone since that’s what I have with me, and I love discussions and responding to people who like the page.

I have accounts on other platforms and I use them periodically, but I spend most of my time and energy on Facebook.

Enjoy the rest of the Social Media Blog Hop and please say hi to me on Facebook or Twitter.

  1. I have the pages app on my phone too but I still find it easier to use my computer for Facebook. 🙂 I don’t like getting “buzzed” everytime something happens on social media! I do like groups on Facebook, though; as you say, it’s a great way to connect on specific issues. That’s primarily why I use Facebook right now. 🙂

  2. Christina,
It sounds like you use Facebook in many of the same ways I do. It’s great that we can access the information any time, any where, and also post any time, any where!

Thanks for joining the blog hop 🙂

  3. I need to get on my Facebook game, I really do. I let my page for my page slip a bit then all sorts of people added me on my personal so now I’m just confused, haha!

    • Yeah, since you have to have a personal account for the page it can get confusing. I use groups with my personal account, but I don’t want a lot of people I don’t really know sending me friend requests. I’d rather save the personal account for friends and family.

  4. Facebook makes me want to pull out my hair! I love it for staying connected with family and friends back home, and for the groups (like TXWB) that I connect with other bloggers in, but my blog and shop facebook page drive me nuts! I’m getting like 5 views on a post with over 3000 followers! Ugh!
