SMART Goals for 2014

Feb 07

We’re a month into 2014 now and it’s time to clarify what we’re wanting to accomplish this year to prepare for full-time travel by 2016.

Ever since reading about SMART goal setting, I’ve been trying to set all my goals this way. This makes me think a bit more about what my actual goal is or should be. I have to clarify what I actually mean and what I want to accomplish. Using the SMART method also puts a deadline and a bit more structure in our plans.

We’re setting goals in three areas: Financial, Home and Business.

Financial goals for 2014:

Save 10% of all net business income.

Pay 20% of all net business income towards debt.

Create a monthly budget by the last Saturday of each month. Adjust and discuss the budget each week at a predetermined time and make changes as needed.

Home goals for 2014:

Sell furniture – coffee tables and bedroom suite – on Craig’s List by the end of February.

Declutter my dresser and closet by the end of February.

Dog training for our German Shepherd by June 2014.

Business goals for 2014:

Continue selling our items on Ebay, Craig’s List and Amazon. Send at least 2 shipments to Amazon each month (done for January!). List up to five items weekly between Ebay and Craig’s List starting in February.

Use 40% net income from businesses toward sourcing new products.

Read books and blogs, listen to podcasts, and attend webinars about online selling on a weekly basis. Implement one new thing learned from the material.

Take Jessica Larrew’s grocery webinar by the end of March 2014.

What are your SMART goals for 2014? Are you working towards a freedom business?
